Escape rooms – the idea may be scary to some!
In essence, an escape room traps you in a small space – you will not be able to get out on your own until you solve puzzles and challenges. Of course, though, if you really need to get out, then there will be someone to assist you (with some exceptions – more on this in a moment). You aren’t really ‘trapped’ at all.
For that reason, the answer to the question ‘are escape rooms safe?’ is a resounding YES!
The Thrill of Escape Rooms
The thrill of escape rooms isn’t being locked in a room per se. That is part of it, though, and it’s pretty important for there to be some sense of peril and urgency. That is where some of the excitement comes from. But either way, escape rooms are not dangerous. It is worth mentioning that there are some extreme escape rooms, mostly in the USA, that are unsafe and you need to sign a safety waiver to enter them. But honestly, these are designed for a very niche demographic and 99.9% of escape rooms are safe and family-friendly.
Mostly, though, the thrill of an escape room lies in the challenges and puzzles. This is the main feature. In order to escape, you and possibly your team will have to solve puzzles, brainteasers and other challenges. These will lead you through clues that follow a storyline until eventually, you solve the entire puzzle.
Escape rooms do not always require you to literally escape from a room, though. Some are more centred around solving mysteries and unlocking clues, for example, to find a murderer or perpetrator of a crime.
Escape Rooms at Home
